School meals at Trinity
Fresh, varied food and practical information about meals, menus, free school meals and dietary needs across Trinity Primary and Secondary.
Food is an important part of the school day. Across our Primary and Secondary phases, pupils have access to a varied catering offer designed to provide choice and support pupils through a busy day.
Trinity works with Innovate, part of Impact Food Group, to provide school food across both phases. The way pupils choose and manage meals differs between Primary and Secondary, so please use the information below for your child’s phase.
Allergies and dietary needs: it is important that allergy and dietary information is kept up to date. Primary families manage this information through SchoolGrid. Secondary families update their child’s information through MyChildAtSchool, MCAS, using the app or online portal.
Trinity is a nut free school. Nuts and products containing nuts must not be brought into school under any circumstances.
Primary school meals
At Trinity Primary, pupils can enjoy a school meal each day.
The Primary menu operates on a three week cycle, with a range of meal choices across the week. Families select meals in advance through SchoolGrid.
What is available at Primary?
The Primary menu may include:
- hot meal choices
- a vegetarian option
- jacket potatoes with toppings
- filled rolls
- salad and fresh bread
- vegetables and fruit
- dessert
Choices depend on the current menu cycle.
Choosing meals through SchoolGrid
Primary families use SchoolGrid to view meal choices and select meals for their child in advance.
Parents and carers can also register their child’s allergies and dietary information through SchoolGrid. Once the allergy information has been updated, SchoolGrid will show meal choices that are suitable for your child.
Primary allergies and dietary needs
If your child has a food allergy, intolerance or dietary requirement, please make sure this information is recorded and kept up to date in SchoolGrid.
SchoolGrid uses the allergy information recorded for your child when displaying meal choices, helping parents and carers identify the meals that are suitable for them.
If your child’s allergy or dietary information changes, please update SchoolGrid promptly.
Primary free school meals
Primary meals are currently covered through the Mayor of London free school meals funding for primary aged pupils, so families do not currently pay for Primary school meals.
Families who may qualify for benefit related free school meals should still apply through Lewisham Council. Eligibility can help the school receive additional funding to support pupils.
Secondary school meals
At Trinity Secondary, pupils can choose from a range of food during the school day.
The Secondary offer is designed more like a school restaurant, with different options available depending on the current menu and service arrangements.
What is available at Secondary?
The Secondary catering offer may include:
- freshly prepared hot meals
- vegetarian and vegan friendly choices
- salads
- wraps and filled rolls
- pasta pots
- jacket potatoes
- street food style choices
- cold meal deals
- fruit, yoghurt and baked items
Available choices vary according to the current menu.
Secondary catering accounts and payment
Families manage Secondary catering accounts through Bromcom and MyChildAtSchool, MCAS.
Where enabled, pupils may use their phone at the catering point for payment. This permission applies only at the catering point and does not change the school’s wider expectations about mobile phone use.
Apple Wallet cannot be used.
Secondary allergies and dietary needs
If your child has a food allergy, intolerance or dietary requirement, parents and carers should make sure their information is up to date through MyChildAtSchool, MCAS.
You can update your child’s information using the MCAS app or the online portal.
Please keep this information up to date and make any changes promptly if your child develops a new allergy, intolerance or dietary requirement, or if their existing information changes.
Secondary free school meals
Pupils who are eligible for free school meals can use their allowance through the normal Secondary catering system and choose food in the same way as other pupils.
Families who think their child may be eligible should apply through Lewisham Council or contact the school office for guidance.
Menus
Menus are updated during the year. Please use the latest information when choosing meals, particularly where your child has an allergy, intolerance or dietary requirement.
Allergies and dietary needs
Keeping allergy and dietary information accurate and up to date is important.
Primary, update allergies through SchoolGrid
Primary parents and carers should register and manage their child’s allergy and dietary information through SchoolGrid.
Once your child’s allergy information has been updated, SchoolGrid will show meal choices that are suitable for your child. Please check that the information held for your child remains accurate and update it promptly if anything changes.
Secondary, update information through MCAS
Secondary parents and carers should keep their child’s allergy and dietary information up to date through MyChildAtSchool, MCAS.
Information can be updated using the MCAS app or online portal. Please make changes promptly if your child’s allergy, intolerance or dietary information changes.
Allergen information is also available through the catering service, and pre packed items should include ingredient and allergen information. Innovate also uses trained Allergen Buddies who can help provide allergen information.
Please do not rely on previous menus or old allergen information. Ingredients and menus may change, so families should check the latest information when making meal choices.
Packed lunches and our nut free school
Trinity is a nut free school. Nuts and products containing nuts must not be brought into school under any circumstances.
This applies to packed lunches, snacks and any other food brought into school. This is an important part of helping us protect pupils and members of our school community who have serious nut allergies.
Parents and carers must therefore check food carefully before it is sent into school and ensure that packed lunches and snacks do not contain nuts or products containing nuts.
If a pupil brings nuts or a product containing nuts into school, the item will be removed from them.
- If the item is sealed, it will be retained and a parent or carer will be required to collect it from school.
- If the item has been opened or is unsealed, it will be disposed of.
Please support us by checking packed lunches and snacks before your child comes to school and by reminding them not to share or bring nut products onto the school site.
Free school meals
Families who may be eligible for benefit related free school meals are encouraged to apply, even where their child currently receives a free Primary meal through wider funding.
Eligibility can provide a free school meal for the pupil and may also help Trinity receive additional funding to support their education.
